This is an update to my previous post regarding delayed tax filings. The IRS had initially said there would be a delay for individuals filing Schedule A, Higher Education Tax Deductions, and teachers claiming classroom expenses. In a bit of good news it seems we now have a firm date from the IRS now on when you can file if you are affected by this delay. The IRS announced today that they would begin accepting returns on February 14, 2011. Again, this only affects you if you itemize deductions on Schedule A, have a student loan or deduct tuition expenses, and/or are a teacher deducting classroom expenses.
UPDATE: IRS will allow filing on February 14, 2011
